George Miller, age 93, of Carrollton passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Carroll Golden Age Retreat.
Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Kilgore, he was a son of the late Howard and Nellie (Kohler) Miller.
He was a mechanic with Carrollton Exempted Village School District, retiring in1981, after 15 years service. Prior to that, he worked at the Scio Pottery. He was a lifetime resident of Carroll County and graduated from Amsterdam High School. He attended Church of Christ (Christian) in Carrollton. He belonged to Carroll County Vet's Club and American Legion Post 3301. A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II, where he was with the 745th Railway Battalion.
He is survived by a son, David (Barbara) Miller of Carrollton;a brother, Charles (Nancy Jo) Miller of Kilgore; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Miller of Waynesburg; a stepson, Art (Ruth Ann) Albaugh of Carrollton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Doris Logan of Bowerston; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lavada I. Albaugh, whom he married April 22, 1972, and who passed away July 14, 2008; a son, Randy Miller; a brother, Carl Miller; a sister, Doris Johnson; a son-in-law, Al Logan and a granddaughter, Julie Logan.
Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 30 from 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mike Doak officiating at Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Perrysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Golden Age Retreat or Hospice.
