James Maras, 77, of Amsterdam died Friday morning, June 28, 2013, in Sienna Woods Center following an extended illness.
Born Aug. 13, 1935, in Wolf Run, he was the son of the late Sephan and Mary Repasky Maras.
He was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended the Pittsburgh Art Institute. He was an Army veteran and a retiree of the North American Coal Company, Jensie Mine in East Springfield. He was a member of All Saints Orthodox Church in Wolf Run.
He is survived by two brothers, Steve Maras of the home and John (Doris) Maras of Celina, OH; a niece, Jill Maras, and a nephew, Jon Maras.
Funeral services will be Monday July 1 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Amsterdam with Fr. Gregory Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Wolf Run. Visitation is Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the service in the funeral home.
