Eileen Sogan, 82, of Amsterdam died early Tuesday morning, June 15, 2010, in the home of her daughter Carleen Fodor following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 26, 1928, in Amsterdam, she was the 13th child of the late Isaac and Elizabeth Shaw Merrin.
She was a caregiver for many years of her life and was employed at Scio Pottery and Clare’s Café. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She will be missed by all!
She is survived by three daughters, Beverly (David) Feathers of Worthington, WV, Carleen (Jim) Fodor and Lorraine (Steve) Reese, all of Scio; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Shawn) Willis, Michael (Lori) Feathers, Bill Fodor, Micheleen (TJ) Shaffer, Dustin (Heather) Reese, Kelly Reese (Matt Bettinazzi) and Derek Reese; 11 great grandchildren, Tasha, Tara, Tiffany, and Curtis Feathers, Bryson and Camdon Willis, Noah and Duke Fodor, Mackenzie, Braeden and Ellison Shaffer and one great great grandchild, Dylan Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Sogan on April 19, 1996; and 12 brothers and sisters, Stanley Merrin, May Kelly, Albert Merrin, John Merrin, Gladys McDonald, Edna Hefling, Fred Merrin, Norma Myer, Norman Merrin, Beatrice Vergaleto, Burt Merrin and George Merrin.
A memorial service will be held June 25 at 1 p.m. at Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Amsterdam with Rev. Jack Visser officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Scio. |
