Helen Bixler, age 90, of Louisville completed her earthy journey Oct. 13, 2013, and went to her eternal home with her Savior and to receive the perfect healing she longed for.
She was a member of the Singing Christians who sang at rest homes in the Carrollton area and painted commemorative china plates which were sold at the annual Algonquin Mill Festival. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Prayer Group for over 30 years and volunteered as a mentor for elementary classes at Carrollton Schools. She was an avid Scrabble player who had participated in a number of area tournaments.
She worked in the title department of the Carroll County Courthouse for several years and at the Carroll County Health Department until retirement.
She is survived by three children, Terry (Ethel) Bixler of Prattville, AL, Ray (Carol) Bixler of Uniontown, and Jeanne (Foster) White of Louisville, with whom she had resided for the past several years; eight grandchildren, Maria (Billy) Caver of Billingsley, AL, Tonya Bixler of Prattville, AL, Mark Bixler of Oklahoma, Heather (Ken) Raber of Hartville, Jason (Sage) Bixler of Vancouver, WA, Amy (Tully) Borland of Arkadelphia, AR, Val (Jeff) Thomas of Clinton, and Kevin White of Orlando, FL; 22 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Von Seeger of Panora, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bixler, in 1975; and three brothers, Herbert "Bud" Eby, Willard "Bill" Eby and Harold Bernard Eby, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be conducted Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Dan Loomis of Carrollton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church cemetery on Canyon Rd. south of Carrollton. Calling hours will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the funeral hoeme.
