Charlotte Marie Reed

Charlotte Marie Reed, age 73, of Malvern died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at her residence.

Born Feb. 2, 1938, in Louisville, she was a daughter of the late John Staley and Alice Marie (Amos) Sickles.

She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, camping, gardening, reading mysteries and traveling to all 48 states.  She was a foster parent and especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Loyal Reed, who she married March 2, 1956; a son, George (Janine) Reed of Minerva; four daughters, Rebecca (Keith) Oberlin and Rhonda (William) Arkenburgh, both of Malvern, Joanne (Ralph) Brady of Carrollton, and Janet Reed of Minerva; a brother, Roger (Jean) Sickles of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Ann Sickles of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Vivian Wilson of Carrollton, Paula Kestel of Canton and Pamela Jones of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many honorary grandchildren.  A great grandchild is expected shortly.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Sickles, and a grandson, Charles Cox III.

A funeral service was held Dec. 8 at Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Brown officiating.  Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery.
