Violet (Parsons) Day
Violet (Parsons) Day was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Bergholz, and died July 3, 2013, in Casa Grande, AZ. She was 82.
She was the daughter of Alice Campbell and Herman Parsons and was raised by her grandmother, Lula Jones, upon the death of her mother when she was eight weeks old.
She graduated from Bergholz High School in 1948. She married Morris Eugene (Gene) Day, Jr., Oct. 8, 1949, and had two sons, Terry E. Day of Casa Grande, AZ, and Robert H. Day (Karen) of Fairbanks, AK. She has two grandchildren, Logan Campbell Day and Conner Yvette Day of Casa Grande, AZ, two grandchildren, Lloyd (Venessa) and Michael (Dana) Schrader (sons of Robert's wife Karen) of Wilmot and East Canton, OH, and six great-grandchildren.
She worked at the Carroll County Home and The Free Press Standard newspaper in Carrollton. She was a professional candy maker and liked to read, crochet, travel, paint, and, especially, cook and do genealogy. She was a volunteer at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center in Arizona. She was a member of New Harrisburg Presbyterian Church and had attended Casa Grande Methodist Church. She was the Ohio State Commissioner for the Clan Campbell Society (USA) and was a member of the Carroll County Genealogical Society in Ohio. She and Gene moved to Arizona in 1998 after living in New Harrisburg, OH, for 44 years.
She is survived by two brothers and one sister and was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, brother, Bob, and sister, Jean.
A memorial service was held for her at Oasis Pavilion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Casa Grande, AZ. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hospice Foundation of America or your local Hospice organization.
The funeral home in charge of final arrangements was "Angels in Waiting" in Casa Grande. Violet donated her body to science at an institute in Tuscon. The funeral home will give her ashes to her family at a later date.
