Robert D. Trussel, Sr.

Robert D. Trussel, Sr.,age 87, of Minerva, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2013, in his home. 

Born, July 24, 1926, in Oneida, he was a son of the late Lester E. Trussel, mother Mildred (Reardon) Trussel Simpson, and step-father, Frank Simpson. 

Robert lived and worked in the Minerva-Malvern area all his life.  Early on he worked at brickyards in Malvern and Magnolia, Republic Steel in Canton, and retired from TRW Industries (Kolcast, PCC) in Minerva after 28 years service.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, and was a life member of both VFW Post #4120 in Minerva and Valley American Legion Post #375 in Malvern.

He is survived by seven sons and daughters-in-law, Frank (Charla) Trussel, Robert D. (Sandy) Trussel, Jr., and Thomas (Lori) Trussel, all of Minerva, Joseph (Debbie) Trussel, of the home, Raymond "Dan" (Diana) Trussel and David (Ann) Trussel, of Paris, and John (Ronee) Trussel, of Columbus; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Ann (Bob) Griffith, and JoEllen Scarberry, of Minerva; a half-sister, Helen (Simpson) Halter, of Magnolia; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy A. Trussel; two sisters, Dorothy Trussel and Betty Buzzelli; and a son-in-law, Danny Scarberry. 

Services will be held Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. in Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with his grandson John Trussel officiating.  Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern following cremation with full Military Honors.  Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m.  The family wishes to express their appreciation to Minerva Senior Citizens for the Meals on Wheels and care they gave to Robert.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
