John Ivancic, 89, of Carrollton passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1924, in Ivanovec, Yugoslavia, he was a son of Stephen and Katarina (Toplek) Ivancic.
John lived in Duechlandburg, Austria for 10 years before arriving in America in 1950. He made his home in Youngstown for 53 before moving to Carrollton in 2003.
He retired from Republic Steel after 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for many years.
His wife, the former Rose Sigler, whom he married May 7, 1960, passed away Sept. 20, 2007.
John will always be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathy (Brian) Jacobson; three grandchildren, Katelyn Rose, William Allen, and Corey John Jacobson; his sister, Maricha; two brothers, Duro and Franz of Croatia; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to caregivers, Carroll Healthcare and Carroll County Hospice for the compassionate care shown to John.
