Sandra (Sandy) I. Steele
Sandra (Sandy) I. Steele, 69, of Salem passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2014, in Cleveland Clinic after a very short illness, with her family at her side.
Born Dec. 19, 1944, in Canton, she was a daughter of Marjorie Newbold Johnson of Mechanicstown and the late Merel G. Johnson.
Sandy was a graduate of Carrollton High School and Columbus Business University. She was employed by H&R Block in Boardman.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Sebring, and was a loving, giving person who quickly made friends wherever she went.
Sandy had many interests, but her favorite was traveling and camping with her husband, Norman, whom she married Dec. 27, 1970.
Along with her mother and husband, she is survived by three sons, Kevin (Lili) of Auburn, CA, Michael of San Diego, CA, and Brian (Erin) of Cleveland; a daughter, Shannon Steele (Troy) of Birmingham, AL; two sisters, Debbie (Patrick) Wright of Kensington and Jennifer (Kevin) Host of Mechanicstown; a brother, Tom (Cindy) Johnson of Hanoverton; five grandchildren; and one great grandson. She had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who she cared deeply about.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, her father and a sister, Cathy.
Funeral services were held Feb. 22 At Stark Memorial in Salem with Pastor Kirt Henman officiating.
