Betty Jane Cogan
Betty Jane Cogan, 84, of Second St., SE, Carrollton, went to be with the Lord Sunday evening March 7, 2010, in Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a brief illness.
Born May 21, 1925, in Jewett, she was a daughter of the late Asa and Effie Heidy Kail.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton. She worked at The Timken Company in Canton, Scio Pottery Company and retired from the meat department at Al's Foodliner in 1971. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by one son, Victor (Laurie) Cogan of Amherst; one daughter, Terry (Phill) Rutledge of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Todd (Leigh Ann) Rutledge, Leonard Rutledge, Jamie Zeigler, Ross Cogan, and Kaitlyn Cogan; six great grandchildren, Jacob Tinlin, Lauren, Travis and Noah Rutledge, and Madison and Caden Zeigler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard (Roscoe) Cogan, whom she married April 30, 1949, and who passed away July 21, 2001; one brother and two sisters.
Private graveside services will be held Thursday in Fairview Cemetery near Jewett with Minister Elaine Painting officiating.
