James Arthur Appel
James Arthur Appel, 70, of Carrollton, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Aultman Hospital.
Born Oct.11, 1940, in Carrollton, he was a son of the late Rudy and Mildred Appel.
He was a 1959 graduate of Carrollton High School. He worked for Ray Patterson TV and attended the Technical Institute in Kent to study electronics. He was hired for a position in Quality Control with Victoreen Inc. of Cleveland, where he lived for several years. He returned to his childhood home in Carrollton while being employed by Hannon Electric of Waco. Jim traveled throughout Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii for this employer. He retired in 1995, giving more time to his hobbies of fixing old cars, TV's and radios. Jim was a veteran serving in the US Army Reserves.
He is survived by brothers Edward (Rita) of Bokeelia, FL, Robert (Leyda) of Falls Church, VA, and Glenn (La Vonne) of Carrollton; a sister, Kathryn (Dan) Tutor of Aurora, IL; nephews, Jeffery (Nicki) Appel of Lakeland, FL, and Brad Appel of Carrollton; nieces, Sondra (Mark) Orinson of Concord, NC, Valerie Appel of Falls Church, VA, Shari Appel of Carrollton and Julie Appel of Durham, NC; and great nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his beloved pets, Star and Puff, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service. According to Jim's wishes he will be cremated and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made to the American Heart Association or charity of choice.
