Charles "Junior" Lewis

Charles "Junior" Lewis, age 79, of Minerva, died Feb. 26, 2009, in his home following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 25, 1929, in Salineville, OH, to Cecil "Buck" and Zelda (Hull) Lewis. He retired in 1993 from the Minerva Fire Dept. after 15 years of service, retired from TRW Metals in Minerva after 16 years of service, drove dump truck, was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW Post #4120 in Minerva and a former member of the Minerva Eagles Club. He was also a member of the Minerva First Christian Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Steve) Haught of Minerva; a son, Rick (Lisa) Lewis of Minerva; a sister, Eleanor (Larry) Haupt of Salineville; a brother, Dale (Karen) Lewis of Salem; four grandchildren, Jason and Justin Haught and Megan and Alex Lewis and one great granddaughter, Emma Haught.

He is preceded in death by his wife Emogene "Jean" Lewis who died in 2003; a sister, Geraldine Mansfield; a brother, Harold Lewis and his faithful friend for the last four years, Coaltrain.

Funeral services were held March 2 in Gotschall Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Ralph Norman officiating. Burial with full military honors was in East Lawn Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alliance Hospice.
