Phyllis "Ruth" Stewart
Phyllis "Ruth" Stewart, 81, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, died early Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2013, in Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville, FL, after a long illness.
Born Aug. 25, 1931, in Sherrodsville, she was the daughter of the late Clayton M. and Bessie A. Caldwell Belknap.
Ruth was a homemaker whose primary focus was her family. She was a graduate of the former Sherrodsville High School and was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Neptune, FL. She was a sweet, wonderful and supportive person to anyone she met and had a beautiful infectious smile.
She is survived by a son and three daughters, Donald W. Stewart, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Pat Majority of Knoxville, TN, Diana (Bob) Pratt of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Carla (Dub) Cain of Atlantic Beach; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Stewart, Sr., who she married Aug. 11, 1950, and who passed away July 23, 1996; four brothers, Lloyd, Lester, Ray, and Junior Belknap, and six sisters Mary, Irma, Marie, Vivian, Ruby, and (Bessie) Audrey.
Funeral services will be conducted Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville with Bishop Brent Meeke officiating. Interment will follow in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens.
