To the Editor:
The support of our community for American Cancer Society Relay for Life events has been tremendous for the years. Since the inception of Relay of Life in Carroll County in 1996, nearly $750,000 has been raised in the fight against cancer.
The 2014 Relay season is in full swing with teams conducting a variety of fundraisers. The Free Press Relay team hosted a Longaberger Bingo event March 30 at the Sr. Friendship Center with an amazing turnout! The event was the largest in the four years it has been held. The success of the event was possible because of the great volunteers and businesses which donated to our cause.
It would not have been possible without the support of the Senior Friendship Center, Carrollton Athletic Booster Club, Gary Nist who graciously volunteered to be our bingo caller for the afternoon; Shelly Vahalik, Sally Morrow and Chelsea McIntire who manned the food stand; those who volunteered to fill or donate baskets, including Brandi Burton, First Presbyterian Church of Carrollton, Deb Senko, Dr. Gary Crump, Dr. Doug Burik, McIntire Show Horses, Palmer’s Hair Design, Tammy Compston, Hair Etc., Melissa Krinock, Kate Offenberger, Leslie Edie, Barb Walton, Diamond T Fencing, Donna’s Deli, John and Melanie Campbell, Carrollton Church of Christ, Kelly Hartzell, Cathy Sperry and Jesse Kirkpatrick families, Carroll County 4-H Teen Leaders Team; and all those who attended the event.
We hope you had as much fun that day as we did!
Thanks for your support. With your help, we are funding research that is producing positive results and providing programs to the local community.
The American Cancer Society is available seven days a week, 24-hours a day to provide assistance by calling 1-800-227-2345 or visiting www.cancer.org.
