To the Editor:
There is no real debate that human activity is causing changes in the climate. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change produces results based on the scientific method. Climate change isn’t just about icebergs and polar bears; it will affect all of us.

Your views on this issue don’t say anything about your patriotism, morality or character. We must face unpleasant facts and act. An activist is just a citizen who isn’t afraid to question the status quo. Thomas Paine was one such citizen. So were the founders of this country.

Those who raise questions about climate change seek to keep a focus on controversy. This strategy was used to obscure the truth about tobacco for many years as more people died and the profits rolled in.
