To the Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank a lot of people for helping the One Way Youth auction held Oct. 8.
First of all, a huge thanks goes to the sons of Larry and Lois Honnold who donated the contents of their home to be sold for the benefit of One Way Youth Ministry in Carrollton. They knew One Way is a program to help any youth in grades 7-12 and this was their of still supporting us. Part of One Way’s income is from private donations, fundraisers such as this auction and the parking we do at the Algonquin Mill Festival each October.
Bob and Kim Galbraith headed up this project because of their friendship with the Honnold family. We would like to give a big thank you to them and their sons, Luke, Jim and Joe. An auction would not be possible without an auctioneer, so thank you to Bill and Barb Newell for donating their time and expertise to make this event successful. Two of their friends, Bobby Brannon and Bob Hall, also donated their time to help the day of the auction. Those two, along with Bill, made the auction very meaningful and entertaining.
Numerous volunteers were needed to prepare for the auction. We’d like to thank the following groups: CHS football players, First United Methodist Church youth group and parents, FUMC Sunday School adult classes, One Way Board of Trustees members and Carole Salisbury (Kim Galbraith’s mother) for connecting us with Newell Realty.
Last, but not least, we want to thank those who came to the auction and purchased items in support of One Way Youth Ministries. It’s encouraging to be part of such a caring community.
