Addie Davis and Kurt Davis (no relation) have been named Student of the Month for September at Carrollton High School.
Daughter of Dave and Jana Davis of Scio, Addie is a member of the volleyball, basketball and track teams at CHS, Student Council, Prom committee, National Honor Society and Student Government. She has a brother, Emmett, 13, an 8th grader at Bell-Herron Middle School.
Upon graduation, Addie plans to attend the University of Findlay and major in biology, pre-medicine and continue her education in medical school.
When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced her and why, Addie replied: “My parents. They have taught me to be driven and to do what’s right. They have taught me to work hard for what I want and to not take anything for granted.
In offering advice for success in life, she said: “Follow your heart and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve something. You can do anything you set your mind to.”
KURT, son of Kevin and Wendy Davis of Carrollton, is captain of Carrollton High School’s football team and a member of the FFA chapter. He exhibits hogs at the county fair and raises steers for the carcass class. Last year he won grand champion in the hog carcass and has exhibited the grand and reserve carcass steers.
His hobbies include pulling tractors with his older brother, Kyle, who each have an International 1066 and enjoy the hobby as a family.
Upon graduation Kurt plans to join the family farm as the third generation and continue the tradition.
When asked what teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced him and why, Kurt said: “My parents have taught me that with hard work and determination anything can be accomplished.
In offering advice for success in life, he replied: “Be a positive role model, live life to the fullest and enjoy family and friends”.
As Students of the Month, both Addie and Kurt become eligible for a $500 scholarship to be awarded by Gateway Royalty at the conclusion of the 2013-14 school year to one boy and one girl.
They also will have their pictures displayed in the showcase at CHS and will be treated to lunch by Carrollton High School Principal David Davis.
