Carrollton district classified workers ratify 2-year contract

FPS staff report

Members of Chapter 541 of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) union, which represents classified employees of the Carrollton Exempted Village School District have ratified a two-year negotiated contract.

At a ratification vote April 10 the membership reportedly approved the agreement by a vote of 40 in favor and 12 against.

According to Lenora Giles, OAPSE field representative, the contract does not include any pay raise for classified workers but does include increases in their health insurance premiums.

The union membership of approximately 70 includes bus drivers, cooks, secretaries, custodians and classroom aides of the school district. The contract now must be approved by the Carrollton Board of Education.
