Lady Warrior volleyball stays atop NBC

FPS staff report

The Carrollton Lady Warriors volleyball team stayed atop of the Northeastern Buckeye Conference with two more league wins last week.

At the end of play last week, Carrollton stands at 9-1 in league play and 15-3 for the year.

They are ranked at No. 13 in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Poll.

Dover is ranked seventh with a perfect 14-0 record.

Last Tuesday it took four games, but the Warriors downed visiting West Branch 25-18, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-15.

Kady Davis recorded 19 points, two aces, and 27 digs for Carrollton, while Kelsey Voll finished with 43 assists and Addie Borland and Ali Poole had 18 kills each.

For West Branch, which fell to 6-11 for the year and 2-7 in the NBC, Pavin Heath had nine points and 15 assists. Kaylee Manning added 11 assists. Bailey McElwain had 15 digs, Sydney Townes 13 kills and Whitney Wallace seven solo blocks.

Last Thursday, the Warriors were on the road at Salem.

It only took the Warriors three sets to put the Quakers away, 25-10, 25-23 and 25-21.

Voll was the Warriors’ top server with 13 points and 3 aces, and she added 35 assists from her setter position.

Kady Davis added 14 digs, Addie Borland 17 kills and Roz Pridemore four solo blocks.

Carrollton was to host Canton South Tuesday. They will be at Louisville on Thursday.

The Warriors will end their regular season next week. They will host Minerva on Tuesday and visit Alliance on Thursday.
