Led by freshman Maddie Dunlap’s second place finish, the Carrollton girls cross country team won the Cambridge Invitational Large School Division race last Saturday with 59 points.
Dunlap finished with a time of 19:08.71.
Her teammates also turned in strong finishes as they prepare for next Saturday’s (Oct. 12) Northeastern Buckeye Conference meet at Memorial Park in Salem beginning at 10 a.m.
Taylar Bennett was seventh with a time of 20:06.77, Hailey Wells 10th with a time of 20:27.50, Naomi Young 11th with a time of 20:39.81, Maddie Formet 29th with a time of 21:58.92, Janesa Bell 31st with a time of 22:01.68 and Lindsay Schandel 40th with a time of 22:33.91.
Westerville Central was a distant second to Carrollton with 81 points and Dover and Morgan County tied for third with 83 points.
Paige Saho of Indian Valley won the individual title with a time of 18:58.23.
A total of 131 runners from 11 schools took part in the race.
In the boys race, the Warriors placed fifth with 136 points.
As in past weeks, John Brown led the way for the Warriors with an 18th place finish with a time of 1801.41. He was followed by Joe Knipp in 26th place with a time of 18:14.05, Cole Lovett in 27th place with a time of 18:21.67, Quinten Huggett in 34th place with a time of 18:49.74, Gabe Owens in 38th place with a time of 19:06.01, John Dunlap in 46th place with a time of 19:24.12 and Luke Leslie in 49th place with a time of 19:30.12.
Indian Valley placed first in the race with 46 points. River View was second with 51 and Dover third with 113.
Runners numbering 139 from 14 schools took part in the race, which was won by Corey Miller from River View with a time of 17:02.87.
