Brown Local fills staff positions for 2017-18 school year

Alainee Cato was hired as a new elementary teacher and several substitutes were approved for the 2017-18 school year at the Aug. 14 meeting of the Brown Local Board of Education at Malvern.

Approved as certified substitutes for the current school year were Kimberly Benson, Eileen Corbett, Christina Hammond, Corinne Haney, Ronald Lampe, Alan Miller, Philip Peckingpaugh, Jennifer Potter, Paul Ray, Todd Robinson, Michael Walk and Stephanie Witherow.

Classified substitutes approved included Jacqueline Foster, Matthew Klingler, Jennifer Potter, Melanie Sluthers, Nancy Welker and Julie Yerrick.

In other business, the board:

– ACCEPTED the resignation of Cathy Maffet as a member of the Excellence Committee;

– APPROVED the payment of bills in the amount of $76,604.33;

– APPROVED budget and purpose statements for the high school student activities, volleyball and softball accounts;

– HEARD reports from Board Member Ronald Ruegg on R. G. Drage Career Center and Supt. Scott Bowling.

– SET the next regular meeting for Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
