Sunrise Easter service planned at Mt. Pleasant

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church will observe Easter, April 1, with a sunrise service at 7 a.m. under the direction of the youth.

Regularly scheduled worship will follow at 9:45 a.m. with Sunday school at 11 a.m. Pastor Steve Smith and the congregation invite the community to attend.

Mt. Pleasant Church is located at 89 Canyon Rd. SW, Carrollton.

Ministerial Association hosting Good Friday service

The Carroll County Ministerial Association will conclude its mid-week Lenten worship series during a Good Friday service at Wesley Community Chapel, 569 12th St., Carrollton March 30 at 7 p.m.

Throughout the season of Lent, area pastors have drawn from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount as revealed in the Gospel of Matthew. The Beatitudes form the core of Christian character. Rev. Dr. Mike Doak will preach from the final three verses of Jesus’ teaching on peace and persecution at the Good Friday service.

Hymns and prayers commemorate the Lord’s suffering and death for the sake of a fallen world, and yet a world redeemed by God’s immeasurable grace. All are invited to come share in this Good Friday worship service.

“Celebration in Song” will feature vocalist Dr. Amy Yekel

An Easter morning “Celebration in Song” will commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at First Presbyterian Church, at the 10:30 a.m. worship service April 1.

Dr. Amy Yekel, an accomplished soprano from the faculty of Marietta College, Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music, will lead vocalists in a variety of classical and contemporary selections celebrating Jesus’ victory over sin and death. Vocalists accompanying Dr. Yekel include her husband, Chuck Yekel, and Carolyn and Jeff Terwilliger. John Rohr is director of music at the First Presbyterian Church.

The community is invited to share in the Easter celebration. A time of light refreshments and fellowship will begin at 10 a.m., prior to worship.

The church is located at 200 N. Lisbon Street, Carrollton.

Churches hosting array of Holy Week services

Carrollton First United Methodist Church and The Bridge will host a wide array of Holy Week and Easter Sunday worship experiences.

The public is invited to join the congregations Palm Sunday, March 25, at the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services at the church at 253 S. Lisbon St. and the 10 a.m. service at the Bridge located in the Rosebud Mining building at the Carroll County fairgrounds. A Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7 p.m. March 29 at the church.

Stations of the Cross will be set up for visitors to journey their way to the cross with Jesus Good Friday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-5 p.m.

An Easter sunrise service will be held on Carrollton’s Public Square at 6:30 a.m. April 1, followed by Easter Sunday services at 8:15 and 10:45 at the church and at 10 a.m. at the Bridge.

Gospel pair performing in Perrysville March 11

PERRYSVILLE – Dixie Hendricks and Christina Stark will present a gospel service March 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Perrysville United Methodist Church.

The pair has been friends and sisters in the Lord for over 20 years, singing to bring Glory to God.  They will share the gospel in word and song, lifting up the name of Jesus and will pray for all to be drawn to Him.

Christina is a Christian recording artist and will have CDs available following the service. The public is invited to attend.

The church is located on SR 164 in Perrysville.
