James H. Baker, 85
James H. Baker, 85, of Bergholz, OH, passed away March 14, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 26, 1931, in Bergholz, a son of the late Herschel and Bernice (Beckley) Baker.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey and William Baker; sister, Mary Ann (Grimes) Hamilton; two great granddaughters, and a great-great grandson.
James was a member of the Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church at Bergholz.
He enjoyed coon and fox hunting and loved his beagles and hounds. He was a coach for the Hot Stove baseball league and loved cheering for his grandchildren.
He worked for Jenise Coal Company and, after 32 years, retired from Consolidation Coal Company.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nina C. (Grimes) Baker; children, John Baker of Bergholz and Patty Ann Baker of Steubenville, Margaret (Terry) Nighman of Bergholz, Diane (Mark) Chestnut of Hanoverton, and Rhonda (Glenn Martin) Walker of Salem; and Laura Stewart Matics who he loved like his own; grandchildren, Lynn, Johnny, Scott, Craig, Tommy, Mark, Amy, Jimmy, TJ, Angie, Gage, Isaiah, Jessica, Eric, Bryce, and Carter; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received March 15 from 4-7 p.m. in Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz where funeral services will be held March 16 at 11 a.m. with his nephew, Pastor Bill Grimes, and Pastor Lee Iden officiating.
