Lunch prices increased at Buckeye Career Center

NEW PHILADELPHIA – Student and adult lunch prices will increase 15 cents for the 2017-18 school year.

At the July 18 meeting, the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education approved cafeteria lunch fee increases as follows:

Student breakfast from $2.20 to 2.25; student lunch from $3.10 to $3.25; student milk, same 45 cents; adult lunch from $3.60 to $3.75. The Board also set the 2017-18 fees for 74 ala carte items.

In other business, the board:

– APPROVED a one day extended service for Jamey Harlan to attend the HOSA regional competition during the 2017-18 school year;

– APPROVED OX stipends for 33 teachers who do not receive a planning period each day.

-APPOINTED Julie Brinkman, Aimee Brown, John Fisher, Alan Furner, Dave Imer and Frank Polen to the Local Professional Development Committee;

– APPROVED 85 Adult Education part-time instructors for the 2018-19 school year;

-ACCEPTED the resignation of Angela Mongiardo as Adult Education dental assisting instructor;

-APPROVED 49 substitutes for the 2017-18 school year;

– APPOINTED the following Student Activity advisors: Family, Career & Community Leaders of America, Melissa Long and Bobi Thompson; Business Professionals of America, William Alexander; Future Health Professionals, Jamey Harlen, Chris McCoury and Gail Sleighter; Leadership Council, Jennifer Mulvaney and Melissa Thomas; Prom advisors, Patsy Strimbu and Rick Strimbu; Skills USA, Patsy Strimbu.

– APPROVED a salary schedule move for Tyrone Miller, math teacher, from Class I to Class II;

– APPROVED payment of bills totaling $1,016,953;

– APPROVED fiscal year 2017appropriation adjustments in the sum of $15,200;

– SET the next meeting for Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.
