Village welcomes Santa, Mrs. Claus during holiday parade

Santa and Mrs. Claus made their first official visit to Carrollton Nov. 25 in the village Christmas Parade. The couple made their way through the parade route on a trailer, courtesy of the Carrollton Village Fire Dept., and visited with children in the gazebo on Public Square following the parade.

Carrollton Village Fire Chief Tom Mesler served as grand marshal of the Christmas parade. Mesler is well-known for his “behind the scenes” assistance with numerous community service projects.

A large crowd gathered along the parade route in Carrollton Nov. 25 ushering in the official start of the holiday season.

A total of 57 units entered the “Christmas Dream” themed parade sponsored by the Carrollton Rotary Club. Tom Mesler, chief of Carrollton Village Fire Department, was the parade Grand Marshal.

Winners of the parade included:

Best Walking Group: Starstruck Gymnastics Team; Best Business Float: McDonalds; Best Non-Profit Float: Christ Community Church of Dellroy; Best Antique Tractor: 1953 Worthington driven by Dale Dowdell of Carrollton; Best Fire Truck: Dellroy VFW 2015 Pierce; Judges’ Choice: Carroll County Fair Royalty.

Judges were Att. Hwa Lumley, Jeff Tipton and Don Rutledge and Larry Garner, announcer.
