Rev. Edmondo Stabene, 92, of Wintersville, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at his residence. He was born Sept. 5, 1918 in Roggiano Gravina, Cosenza, Italy a son of the late Salvatore and Pasqualina Cauterucci Stabene.
In 1960, Fr. Stabene came to the United States, having been a pastor for 16 years in Italy. He retired in 1997 after serving the Diocese of Steubenville as a pastor at Holy Name Cathedral (four years), St. Anthony (25 years), and Sacred Heart in Hopedale and Immaculate Conception in Jewett (13 years).
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville today, October 20, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. On Thursday, viewing at St. Peters Church from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral liturgy with mass at 11 a.m. Entombment at Mt. Calvary. Vigil services 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. It was the request of Fr. Stabene that no flowers be sent and donations be made to a charity or church of the donor’s choice.
