George Richard Hopkins (Cannonball), 65, Adena, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born Jan. 6, 1946 in Wheeling, W.Va., son of the late Harry C. (Hagan) Hopkins and Margaret Carter Hopkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Donald C. Hopkins.
Friends will be received to pay tribute and celebrate his life on Tuesday evening, Sept. 20, 2011, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Adena. Services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Mehl officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by Adena American Legion Post 525 at Longview Cemetery, New Athens.
