Richard Paul Rensi, 70, of Hopedale, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 in Akron General Hospital after a sudden heart attack. Rich was born in Steubenville, Oct. 1, 1941 and raised in Hopedale. He was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Tripp Rensi.
He was a graduate of the Hopedale High School Class of 1959.
After graduation he was inducted into the US Army serving from February 1966 until February 1968 in the 1st SQDN 1st, Cav, receiving the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Combat Medal, Combat Infantry Badge.
On March 10, 1961 he married Verna Case of Hopedale. For 24 years he served as the Harrison County Sheriff.
Friends may call at the Hopedale United Methodist Church on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. with services there on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. Pastors Dean Blythe and Ruby Foutz will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Masonic services will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday evening. Military honors will be provided by the Hopedale American Legion Post #682.
Blackburn Funeral Home in Hopedale is in charge of arrangements.
