obit Romshak pic 11-2-13Mary Alice Romshak, 91, the oldest living resident of New Athens who was born there, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, W.Va. She was born April 2, 1922, a daughter of the late Clyde F. and Lillie M. Henderson Secrest.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Johnson in 1945, her second husband, Rudy Romshak in 1987; a son Larry Johnson; a daughter, Betty Jane Litten; a son-in-law, Carl Bruce Price; a brother, Clyde F. “Bud” Secrest; a sister Gertrude Yemich; and her cat and faithful companion, Emmitt.

Friends may call Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. with her grandson, Rev. Jon Little officiating.
