Phillip L. Markwell, Sr., 77, of Bowerston, passed away at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia on Monday, January 13, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Born September 24, 1936 in Clearfield, Kentucky, he was a son of the late George Andy and Elizabeth (Link) Markwell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Markwell, and three sisters, Polly Kleckner, Betty Lelko and Violet Shuster.
In keeping with Phillip’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Jerralyn Myers, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Tunnel Hill Cemetery near Bowerston at a later date.
