Former Jewett resident, Sara Joyce (Cunningham) Geisert, passed away April 5, age 80. Born in New Rumley, Jo resided in Jewett until her marriage to Richard Geisert in Columbus, 1953. They moved to California in 1962 and settled in Santa Ana, CA, in 1968, where she worked in a medical office until 1994. After retirement, Jo immersed herself in her passion of buying and selling antiques, favoring Victorian-era pieces. She also had a general love of the arts, especially stage and musical productions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, S.M. and Hettie Cunningham; and a sister, Gwen Rickenbacher. She is survived by a sister, Jeanne Wilson of NC; a brother, Tom Cunningham of WI; two sons, Mark and Eric; a granddaughter, Alison; and several nieces and nephews. Even after many years in California, Jo still retained the values associated with her rural, small-town Ohio roots. Often thought of as kind, gracious and loving, she was generous of herself in a way that is all too rare nowadays. She will be missed by all who knew her. A graveside service was held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange, CA.
