Flora June Leonhart, 79, of Annapolis, died Wednesday June 11, at 10:30 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 6, 1935 on the Heisler Homestead in Harrison County, Ohio. She was the only child of the late Roy Kerr and Ethel Kerr Marshall.
Flora was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Louis G. Leonhart who died four months earlier.
Flora is survived by her 3 children, Louis Keith (Kathy) Leonhart of Richmond, John Allen (Debbie) Leonhart of Hebron, Kentucky, and Carol Ann Leonhart of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Main, Louis Gerald, Jennifer (Randy) Scrivner, John Thomas Leonhart, and Sara May Leonhart; and 2 great grandchildren, Michael Main and Emily Main. She was retired from Sears after 21 years of service. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Springfield. Flora was the first woman to serve as Master of Annapolis Grange and the first woman to serve as Master of Jefferson County Pomona Grange. She was a member of Holy City Shrine in Wheeling and a past Worthy High Priestess of Amelia Shrine in Steubenville, Ohio. Flora valued family history. She contributed to the Mills history. She wrote the Kerr, Heisler, Yeager and Leonhart family histories. She also kept a day-to-day calendar of her immediate family’s history since 1958 until her death in 2014 spanning 56 years. She said, “Every day is a blessing and we need to use them as such.”
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd., Wintersville on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12 noon with Pastor Robert Welch officiating.
