Peggy Dewell photoFinally her suffering it is over, after more than 10 long long years with Alzheimer’s Disease, Peggy Ann Croxton Dewell, age 79, of Scio died in the Harrison County Home on Friday, August 1, 2014. Peggy was the last of the pioneering Croxton’s to pass. She was also the last Croxton to be born in the Croxton mansion in Washington Twp., Carroll Co. The land it sat on was acquired by federal land grant in 1810 by her great great grandfather WM. Croxton. Peggy was born on December 25, 1934 and was preceded in death by her parents Dwight E. and Gladys M. Hawk Croxton and her sister Gwen (Harold) Moreland.

Peggy was a member of the former Scio Farm Womens Club, Mt. Hope Grange, Harrison Co. SWCD Auxiliary, Harrison Co. Farm Bureau, National Rifle Assoc. and Ohio Gun Collectors Assoc. She was a member of The Shepherds Chapel in Gravits, Arkansas. When her husband worked away in the coal strip or other places Peggy kept all the animals fed and well cared for. She was one hell of a farm wife! She will be missed by her husband and loving children, especially her loving daughter, Terri. She would have loved all the old tractors and Doodle Bugs and the old Model T Ford ton truck but it was not meant to be. Her wishes were to be cremated and her ashes scattered on the farm she loved so much. There will be no services or visitation whatsoever. Koch Funeral Home, Scio is in charge of her arrangements.

“ A golden heart has stopped beating, busy hands now rest, she is with her heavenly father, she long ago passed the test.”

A full obituary will be published in an upcoming edition of the News-Herald.
