James D. (Jim) Patterson passed away Sunday, September 28 at the age of 85. He was born July 7, 1929 in Cadiz, Ohio and was the son of the late Walter W. and J. Lucille Patterson. He was a 1946 graduate of Scio High School, Scio, Ohio and served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Midland Ross Janitrol Aerospace Division, Columbus, Ohio, in 1991.
After his retirement he was a volunteer at Riverisde Methodist Hospital for 16-years. He is survived by his wife of 60-years, Dorothea (Spurrier) Patterson; three children, Sally (Patrick) Patton of Cadiz, Ohio, Cindy Taylor (Fiancé Randy Ott) of Columbus, Ohio and Jim (Laurie) Patterson of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Cory Patton (Fiancée Erika Williams) of Dillonvale, Ohio, Erica (Travis) Case of Hopedale, Ohio, Trisha Patton of Cadiz, Ohio, triplets, Markus, Megan and Matthew Patterson of Westerville, Ohio; great grandson Drake Case of Hopedale, Ohio; sister-in-law, Freida Patterson of Fresno, Ohio; brother-in-law, Reuben (Ivey) Spurrier of Easton, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant son Joseph Howard, three sisters Louise Clark, Margaret Mauk and Mary Mickey, brothers Robert Patterson and Charles Leroy Patterson.
Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Wednesday 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Service will be held at Spring Road Church of Christ, 74 S. Spring Rd, Westerville, Ohio on Thursday at noon with visiting one-hour prior to the service, Minister Clay Brown, officiating. Burial will be at Blendon Central Cemetery, Westerville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Road Church of Christ or the American Heart Association.
