Henry J. Jolly, 82, of Cadiz formerly of Amsterdam, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville. He was born May 17, 1932 in New York, a son of the late Henry J. and Sophie Yahner Jolly.
Henry was a retired Foreman from Weirton Steel Corporation. He was a Special Deputy for the Jefferson Co. Sheriff and an Amsterdam Police Officer. He was a member of the Amsterdam Moose, several archery and sportsmen’s clubs and bowling leagues. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter; two brothers, Charles “Chick” and Francis Jolly and a sister, Janie Halpney.
Surviving are three sons, Henry J. Jolly, Jr. (Debbie) of Richmond, OH, Robert G. Jolly (Kim) and Charles Jolly (Connie), all of Amsterdam; three daughters, Carol Jakacki of Amsterdam, Rhenae Grabits of Piney Fork and Martina A. Jolly of Amsterdam; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
