Thelma Garner, age 69, of Bowerston, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Union Hospital, Dover.
Born May 22, 1945 in East Rochester she was a daughter of the late Walter Christopher Hillyer and Mable Florence Noland Hillyer. Thelma worked at the Scio Pottery Co. for 10 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo but what she loved most was spending time with her family especially having the opportunity to teach her granddaughters to crochet and play cards and board games.
Surviving are her daughter Cindy Eckley and her husband Jeff, of Jewett, granddaughters Jessica and Janese Eckley of Jewett and sisters Lee Offenberger of Minerva and Florence Shoupe of San Antonio, Texas. Preceding her in death are her brother Harold Hillyer, sisters Maxine Watson and Melva Phillips and ex-husband Jerry W. Garner.
Services will be held Saturday Nov. 22, at 12 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Phillip Spellman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may call two hours prior to service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
