obit art 1Howard “Woody” Caldwell, Jr., age 65 of Bowerston died Thursday, Nov. 27, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia.

Born Nov.26, 1949 in Dennison he was a son of the late Howard E. Caldwell, Sr. and Betty Gibson Caldwell. Woody graduated from Conotton Valley High School in 1967 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army. He was a machinist working for the Nolan Company then Simon Duplex for over 20 years and Hydraulic Specialist in Midvale for over 15 years.

Woody was a devoted 39-year member of the Bowerston VFD and EMS and was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church. In his younger years he was a member of the Atwood Lanes bowling league and enjoyed woodworking and fishing with his brother Randy.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Sensel Caldwell on June 9, 2014, they married July 21, 1973, a stillborn son Erik and his beloved grandma Margaret Gibson.

Surviving are his children Brock Caldwell of Peebles, OH, Ashley (Matt) Beale of LaVerne CA and Tiffany (Jon) Penix of Dover; three grandchildren Derek and Ryan Beale and Reese Penix, a brother Randy Caldwell of Bowerston, a niece and a nephew Christine and Jay Caldwell and several close cousins.

Services were held in Scio United Methodist Church with Pastor Deborah Kellar officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Scio United Methodist Church, PO Box 554, Scio 43988.
