obit art 12Rev. H. Bruce Zimmerman, age 91, of Jewett went home to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 26, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 6, 1923 in Cadiz he was a son of the late John Henry Zimmerman and Grace Deane Snoderly Zimmerman. He graduated from Jewett High School in 1941 and attended Oregon State College prior to honorable serving his country as an Infantry Gunner in Patton’s Third Army during WWII at the end of the Battle of the Bulge. Bruce worked for the Ohio Dept. of Transportation for 35 years, operated his own farm from 1931 and was called to the ministry in 1964, starting as a lay minister at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and Hanover United Methodist Church where he served for 50 years.

Bruce was preceded in death by the love of his life, Doris M. Brooks Zimmerman, on December 20, 2007, they married August 17, 1947. He was also preceded in death by his sister Betty Jane Gombert in April of 2008.

Surviving are his children Ronald B. (Claudia) Zimmerman of Millersburg, Joann (Richard) Geiser of Canton, Gary (Cristy) Zimmerman of Lisbon and Roger (Becky) Zimmerman of Jewett, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, at 4 p.m. in Hanover United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Friends may call from Sunday from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Koch Funeral Home, Scio has been entrusted with his arrangements.
