Wilma J. Moore, age 74, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and a former resident of Bowerston and Scio, died Monday afternoon, Dec. 29, in her residence after a long illness.
She was born May 21, 1940 in Adena, Ohio and was the daughter of the late John Hennis and Wilma Lightner Hennis Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather Albert E. Evans, her husband Richard G. Moore, who died June 9, 1978, a sister Rose Parcell, and a granddaughter Kailey Moore.
She was primarily a homemaker for most of her life. Wilma was a former member of the Scio Presbyterian Church and proud of the fact that she was baptized at age 10 in the Scio Methodist Church. She had been active in the Plus or Minus 60 Ministries in Louisville, Ohio. She was recognized as an avid reader and a self-proclaimed “lazy” unpublished author whose specialty was writing love stories with a historical background. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Art (Jacqueline) Tripp of Cambridge, Ohio, three sons, Todd Moore and Kelly Risley of New Philadelphia, Michael (Valerie) Moore of Scio, Ohio, and James Moore of Silver Springs, Fla., five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and no formal funeral services will be observed. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions in Wilma’s memory may be made to Community
Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio
