Charles Fisher obit pic - Together AgainCharles A. Fisher, age 86, of 77470 Freeport Tippecanoe Road, Freeport died Thursday, Jan. 15, in Hennis Care Center, Bolivar where he had been a resident since the first part of Nov. 2014.

Born June 1, 1928 in Piedmont, Ohio, he was a son of the late Carl Leroy Fisher and Jessie Leah Arnold Fisher.

Charles was a 1945 graduate of Freeport High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving from 1952 to 1954 then served six years as a reserve member and discharged from the U.S. Army in 1960. He was a member of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Stillwater Valley Post #6815 and a member of the Tippecanoe United Methodist Church. He also attended Park Christian Church in Dennison for the past eight years and was a member of the Lakeland Senior Citizens.

He retired from Harrison Career Center in Cadiz in 1991 where he was custodian for thirteen years. He previously worked for twenty years at Can-tex Sewer Pipe in Newport and Stillwater Clay Products in Uhrichsville. He loved to farm.

His wife, Frances J. Wheeler Fisher, died April 24, 2002. They were married May 14, 1955.

Surviving are two sons: David C. Fisher of Freeport, and Roger A. (Rita) Fisher of Uhrichsville; a daughter Carol (Roger) McMillen of Deersville; a brother Donald L. (Dorothy) Fisher of New Philadelphia; a sister Doris (Carl) Crawford of Freeport; a sister-in-law Geraldine Fisher of Cambridge; nine grandchildren: Andy (Danielle) McMillen of Feed Springs, Kellen (Haley) McMillen of Tuscarawas, Josephine “Josie” (Seth) Cox of New Philadelphia, Leanna McMillen a student resident of West Liberty University, Pauline Fisher of Uhrichsville, Charlene Fisher of Uhrichsville, Gabriella Fisher of Freeport, Zebekiah Fisher of Freeport, and Hunter Fisher of Freeport; like a grandson, Ryan Dilly of Deersville; four great grandchildren: Cameron McMillen, Cali McMillen, Olivia McMillen, and Aidan McMillen; and his companion for ten years, Lorena Nattress of Freeport.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Fisher and a grandson, Foster Fisher.

Services will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 19, in Koch Funeral Home, Freeport with Rev. Dalton Hinds officiating. Military Service and burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation will be held in the funeral home two hours prior to the service, 10 a.m. to noon.
