John S. Sefsick, age 77 of Harrisville-Adena Road, Adena, Ohio died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born August 10, 1937 in Adena, Ohio to the late Joseph SR. and Stella Kobus Sefsick.
John was a retired coal miner with Y&O Coal Company and Harrison Mining for 12 years; an army veteran; member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Adena, Ohio; Polish club of Fairpoint, Ohio; and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Sefsick Jr.
He was a devoted husband of 53 years to Rose Battiluchi Sefsick. Also surviving are a son, Douglas (Robin) Sefsick of Adena; a sister, Joan (Charles) Brown of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Drew and Paige Sefsick.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to John and celebrate his life Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Adena, Ohio. Wake service will be Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Adena.
Mayor John Kolesar is the Celebrant.
Entombment will be at Holly Memorial Garden’s Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Adena American Legion at the mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Adena or the American Cancer Society.
