obit art 5Benjamin Rice, 85, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Sunday, Jan. 25, at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va. He was born June 25, 1929 in Cordova, Ark., a son of the late John and Ann Caseroff Rice. Mr. Rice was a member and volunteer of Valley View Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and a retired groundskeeper at the University of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren and eight brothers. Surviving are his wife to whom he was married June 28, 1958 by Rev. Rothel, Lavina Palmer Rice, 2 daughters, Lula Rice and Sharon Brookins, both of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio. Rev. Rodney Bowers will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethel Church Cemetery near Hopedale, Ohio. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com.
