John J. George Sr., age 91, address Green Street Harrisville, Ohio died Saturday, Jan. 31, at Wheeling Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1923 in Dillonvale, Ohio to the late Charlie Sr. and Barbara Nassif George.
John was the owner operator of the farmer George’s Barber Shop for over 50 years, a WWII army veteran, a prisoner of war, a member of St. Casimira Catholic Church in Adena, Ohio, Harrisville volunteer fire dept., Adena American Legion, and D.A.V. of Bellaire.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Dematte George, Feb. 28, 2007; a brother Charles George Jr.; three sisters – Ann Ingram, Sue Cole and Madeline Freter.
Surviving are two sons: John (Carol) George and Kerry (Christine) George both of Adena, Ohio; a sister Bernadine Elias, St. Clairsville, Ohio; grandchildren: Kimberly, Kris, Carrie Ann, Scott and Nicole; and great grandchildren: Nathan, Tori, Nathaniel, Tyler, Cassidy, Max, Johanna, Wyatt and Gavin.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to John and celebrate his life on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home in Adena, Ohio.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Casimira Catholic Church in Adena, Ohio. The Celebrant will be Monsignor John Kolesar with burial at the Olive Brauch Cemetery, Harrisville, Ohio.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Adena American Legion at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
