Rachel Lee Burgins, 43, of Hopedale, formerly of Cadiz, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 16, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 5, 1971 in Martins Ferry, a daughter of Benjamin Burgins and the late Jeanette P. Banks Burgins.
Rachel was a phlebotomist, having worked at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville and in Augusta, Ga. She enjoyed gaming at Wheeling Downs and Mountaineer Park.
Surviving are her daughter, Kianna Burgins of Akron; her father and step-mother, Benjamin and Janette Burgins of Cadiz; two sisters, Kimberly Jo Burgins of Cadiz and Benita Lynn Burgins of Dover; a brother, Benjamin Troy Burgins of Akron; two step-brothers, Tyrone Smith, Jr. of Cadiz and Tory Smith of San Antonio; and a step-sister, LaTonya Smith of Cadiz.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. James AME Church in Cadiz with Rev. William Lewis officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.clark-kirkland.com.
