Eric Joseph “E.J.” Garvin, 38, of New Athens, died Sunday, March 1, at his home. He was born August 9, 1976 in Bellaire, Ohio the son of Richard Garvin of New Athens and Kathy Fulton Garvin of Louisville, Ohio.
E.J. was a surveyor at Hamilton and Associates in Flushing. He was an avid fisherman, liked camping, playing the guitar, radio controlled cars and cornhole, but especially being with family and friends.
He was preceded in death, by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Ellen Garvin and his maternal grandfather, Howard Fulton.
E.J. is survived in addition to his parents by his wife, Jennifer Sutton Garvin; a sister, Kristin (Kevin) Warner of Jewett; maternal grandmother, Letha Fulton of Cadiz; and his niece and nephew: Mollie and Dylan Warner.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-8 at the House of the Shepherd Church in New Athens, where funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Pete Tuchek officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio.
