obit art 8Sarah Grace Dodds Gailbreath 95, passed away Saturday March 28, at the Harrison County Home where she has been living the past three years. She was formerly from the Jewett, Ohio area. Born Feb. 24, 1920 near Bloomingdale, Ohio, daughter of the late James E. and Mary Ralston Dodds. She was part of the greatest generation that lived through the great depression and World War II.

Sarah married William Leonard Gailbreath on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947, he preceded her in death in 1981; five sisters: Mabel, Maud, Ruth, Florence Dodds and Edith Norquest and two brothers Arthur and Everett Dodds are also deceased.

She was salutatorian of her 1938 high school class, which was the first graduating class in the new Wayne High School at Bloomingdale, Sarah was a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church near Bloomingdale and played the piano for over 40 years, also taught Sunday school. She was an avid gardener and letter writer.

Sarah is a descendant granddaughter of early pioneer settlers of Jefferson county Ohio: John Dodds, Andrew Ralson I, and Nicklas Merryman.

She is survived by her daughter Nola (Larry) Peebles of Canton, Ohio a son Alva (Carolyn Voich) Gailbreath of Cadiz, Ohio three grand children: Jamie Peebles of Canton, Ohio; Chad (Beth) Peebles of Lexington, Ohio and Tiffany Haynes of Follansbee, W.Va., and four great grandchildren: Kyler and Landyn Haynes and Ethan and Isaac Peebles.

Special thanks to the Harrison County Home, Harrison Community Hospital, Trinity Hospital and Doctor Prasad for his excellent care of her for the last 40 years and Rose Delaney and other neighbors who watched out for her over the last few years.

Friends may call at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church near Bloomingdale on Tuesday March 3 from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
