obit Dorothy Pelegreen picDorothy Gail (nee) Jones Pelegreen, also known as Grani, Babe and Granny Underpants, 75, of Hopedale, Ohio, died Thursday morning peacefully in her home. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on October 12, 1939 and grew up in Toronto, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Arley Jones and Ruth Crago (Joseph) Lukacena.

Dorothy was married to the late Andrew R. “Chooch” Pelegreen, Jr., whom she married on June 22, 1957. She is survived by son Andrew “Bug” Pelegreen, III, Michael A. (Kathy) Pelegreen, Sr., Rocco C. (Rayna) Pelegreen and Joseph M. (Sarah) Pelegreen, all of Hopedale; sister Juanita McEwen of Steubenville; brother Terry “Butch” (Rebecca) Jones of Toronto; grandchildren Michael A., Jr. (Shannon), Sara, Jon-Paul, Kasandra, Nicholas, Malayna, Anthony and Mikayla; great grandchildren Jaiden and Rylee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor, where she met the love of her life. She also was a co-owner of the former Diamond Coal Company and Pelegreen Trucking Company.  She was a supporter of various local organizations, including the Hopedale Garden Club, The HopePlayers, Inc., the Knights of Columbus and the Democratic Party. Dorothy was also a majorette in the Toronto High School Marching Band. She enjoyed gardening, reading, swimming, doing her crossword puzzles and spending as much time as she could with her family and friends.

In following Dorothy’s wishes, no services will be held. She will be cremated and her final resting place will be at the Hopedale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopedale Baseball Association, P.O.
