Anna Yvonne Wheeler, 69 of Columbus, formerly of Cadiz, died Friday, July 24, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 3, 1946 in Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Lawrence A. and Laura K. Miller Wheeler.
She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz and St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Columbus. A retired schoolteacher having taught in the Columbus Public Schools, she was a member of the National Association of Black School Educators; the Ohio
State University Black Alumni Association and served in the U.S. National Guard during Vietnam Era.
She is survived by a son, Christopher (Theresa) Wheeler of Hudson, New York; her brothers: Lawrence U. “Monty” (Hope) Wheeler and Howard G. (Cheryl) Wheeler all of Columbus; three grandchildren: Tyler, Noah and Emma; and her Aunt, Dorothy Goggins of Columbus, Ohio.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Aug. 2 from 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio. Funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, 300 East Market Street, Cadiz, with Rev. William Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
