 Gerald Arthur “Jerry” Horn, age 82, of Jewett passed away Monday, Aug. 3, in UPMC, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born Nov. 27, 1932 in Jefferson County he was a son of the late Benson and Mary Wilson Horn. Jerry was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired equipment operator for Y&O Coal. Jerry never met a stranger and for the past 10 years he has enjoyed transporting the growing Amish community to functions.

Jerry married Janet Wilson Horn on Feb. 25, 1953 and they had ten children. Janet preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 2006. Also preceding him in death are three sisters Kay Browning, Ruth Ann Sponhaltz and Winnie Mizer and a son-in-law Kit Ellzy.

Surviving are his children Tammy (Mike) Harris, Mark, Todd, Darin (Barb) and Missy all of Jewett, Randy of Canton, Tyra of Cadiz, Dennis (Mindy) of Pleasantville, Eric (Peggy) of Scio and Lynn (Donna) of Summerville, SC; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister Dolly Snyder and brothers Tom, Frank Kenny and Ronnie.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Jewett United Methodist Church with Pastor Hester Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jewett. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, Scio. Memorial contributions may be made to Jewett VFD, PO Box 15, Jewett, 43986.
