Floyd H. “Snook” Culbertson, 68 of New Athens, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was born July 30, 1947 in Martins Ferry, Ohio a son of the late Floyd D. and Ola Howfield Culbertson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Independence during the Vietnam War, member of the Presbyterian Church of New Athens and was former employee of R & F Coal, Consol and Hillandale and most recently worked for Belmont Senior Citizens as a bus driver. He was a member of Flushing Lodge #298 F.&A.M., Cadiz American Legion Post #34 and a former member of New Athens V.F.D..
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a brother Ronald Culbertson.
He is survived by his wife, Dian Ballog Culbertson; 2 sons: Ron (Heather) Culbertson of Cadiz and Randy (Tessa) Culbertson of New Athens; 4 grandchildren: Drew, Cale, Chaz and Callie Culbertson; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Devine of Flushing and Mary Jane (Fred) Love of Zanesville; a sister-in-law, Grace Culbertson of Poway, California and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will held on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m.. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Masonic service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Military honors by the Cadiz American Legion will be conducted at the funeral home.
